Q: Is there a fee to join this Alumni group?
A: The purpose of Shorecrest High School Alumni is to gather information to allow for an active Alumni association to form, if that is the desire of the group. No fee is required to show your interest in this group. Perhaps later, a separate category of "member" will require payment of dues.
Q: Is my information (name, email address, etc.) going to be published on this website?
A: It is not the intent of this website to serve as a means of social connection between Shorecrest alumni. Rather, it is for the specific purpose of gathering information that will be used to keep you in touch with the Shorecrest High School Alumni group, and with happenings at Shorecrest High School. Your name may be published on the Founders page if you are one of the first 15 alumni from each Class to sign up AND you give your permission for this.
Q: Can I contact my old high-school buddy through you?
A: We have a Facebook page which you can possibly use as a way to find your buddy. "Like us on Facebook" and you'll soon connect with many other Shorecrest Alumni!
Q: Why do I have to provide an email address to join this group?
A: Shorecrest High School Alumni is a low-budget operation. Postal mail costs money. Email will allow for very inexpensive communication. Email is the way we plan to stay in touch.
Q: What if my email address changes from what I provide, or my name changes, etc.? How can I let you know?
A: We could have set this up so you had to have a Username and Password to join (in which case you could change your info by logging on in the future), but that tends to keep people from going to the trouble to join. We've made it easy to join! There is a security question in the info you give us; in the future, if you send an email requesting a change of information, we can use the security question/answer to verify that you are really you, and we can then make the change.
Q: Will you be selling my information to a mailing list?
A: NO! The intent is to keep your information for use by Shorecrest High School Alumni only. For instance, if a class reunion organized through "Reunions With Class" is in the works, you could be sent an email from Shorecrest High School Alumni to alert you to that fact, but you would have to take the next step of contacting "Reunions With Class" yourself to get on their mailing list. The information you give us here will not be shared with commercial alumni or reunion companies, or other mailing lists.
Q: Who is organizing Shorecrest High School Alumni?
A: In order to get the group "off the ground," several current staff members at Shorecrest High School are taking the first steps to form an Alumni Association. These organizers know the importance of tying Alumni to the school - for the benefit of both parties.
